The Catholic cathedral of the Most Holy Heart of Jesus played host to a notable Easter period musical event on April 12th. To the great satisfaction of all those on hand a concert was given by the Klapa Bonaca a cappella band out of Šibenik.
The traditional Easter concert, sponsored by the Croatian Embassy in Macedonia, opened with a prayer for the late Polish President and his wife and the 96 members of the Polish state delegation that died in an airplane crash near Smolensk (western Russia).
The program continued with songs that celebrate love, wine, the homeland and the sea. The performance by the Klapa Bonaca, which recently joined Oliver Dragojević on stage in London, was a special experience for Croatians. The cathedral echoed with the sounds of their hits, and the audience joined in when the band performed Da te mogu pismom zvati (If I Could Call You In Song). The cathedral was too small to receive all of the faithful and the many dignitaries on hand, from the Macedonian Government, representatives of the religious denominations, the diplomatic corps, public figures and culture activists and a large number of the members of the Croatian community in Macedonia.
The band and the audience were greeted by Bishop of Skopje and Apostolic Exarch of Macedonian Kiro Stojanov and by Croatian Ambassador Ivan Kujundžić.
A reception featuring Croatian specialities was given after the concert for the homeland guests at the Raguza restaurant.
