Our beloved Michael, 63, died Friday, Oct. 29th at Kaiser Hospital north, Sacramento. A noted educator for University of San Francisco and a Croatian scholar, Michael was educated at University of the Pacific; John Carroll University, Cleveland; University of Colorado Institute for Comparative Politics, Boulder; and University of San Francisco. He was Sourisseau Academy Scholar at California State University, San Jose. Author of Croatian Myth And Reality, 1992, he was named Croatian Man of the Year, 1985. He received the Danica Order of Marko Marulic from President Franjo Tudjman of Croatia, 1994. Michael was Regional Director for University of San Francisco, Central Valley campus, 1978-2002. Born at Camp Pendleton, Oceanside, May 8, 1947, he was the son of Trudy Mae Fleming and John Roe McAdams, who preceded him in death. Survived by his companion, Carolyn Konrad; his former wives, Mary and Barbara; sister, Barbara Shafer; brother William (Linde) McAdams; aunt, Sallie Smith. Memorial service: Tues., Nov. 9th, 6pm, St. Paul's Church, 15th & J Sts., Sacramento. Reception follows: Croatian-American Cultural Center, 3730 Auburn Blvd., Sacramento, 916-489-0339.
